“MoH is a fantastic event for horror filmmakers! Lowry and Shiva do a great job championing the films that play here and maintain great relationships with the filmmakers (they post promotions for all of the films on their social medias even after the festival has ended, and often have other resources lined up to help indie filmmakers). 2023 was my third year presenting at MoH (short films in 2021 and 2023, and a screenplay in 2019) and I already can’t wait for 2024. It’s so great that Central VA has an event like this to champion horror-specific filmmakers. If you live in the area and have a film, I can’t recommend submitting to MoH enough!”

“The Magic of Horror is everything I want from a film festival. I'm so honored they selected our trailer, "The Day IT Came." Right from the start, I had a good impression. The judges provided fantastic feedback via email, and the organizers gave a discount code for lodging. Unfortunately, I could not attend, but the online presence was so good that I felt I was there. They promoted everyone's movies on social media and their website. They also had the award ceremony in person and online, which was great because my family and I could watch it remotely. Even after the festival wrapped, the organizers still showcase selections from current and past festivals. Thanks to The Magic of Horror's online presence, I now have a list of all new shorts and features I want to check out. On their website, they even have links to where to watch many of their winners, nominees, and selections; that is so cool! Communication was also above and beyond what was expected. The hosts have an unparalleled love and passion for the horror community, and I can't recommend this festival enough. It would be a privilege to attend this festival again as a filmmaker or fan; hopefully, next time in person.”

“Great communication and organization, thank you from team “Ash and Bone”!”

- Harley Wallen, Filmmaker

“Networking should be a 0 but that's entirely Covid's fault, despite that the team behind Magic of Horror managed to put together a really fun live screening on their YouTube channel instead so I've got to give them 5 stars all around. Rarely do you get such great communication with the organizers and all their hard work and passion for horror was clearly evident. Shame that it couldn't be a live event this year, but I'll definitely be submitting again in the future and recommend you all do the same.”

- Alex Cassun, Filmmaker

“Sincerely, what a fantastic festival! It’s very informative and nice that, beyond the physical festival, they provide detailed feedback about your film. However, being there in person was truly great, getting to network and be a part of the film community in the Richmond area.”

- Justin Moriarty, Filmmaker

“It always helps when your short wins, 'Best Film', but beyond that, it's clear that The Magic of Horror is a fantastic festival run expertly by Shiva & Lowrie who obviously love the genre as much as I do. I only hope that a future project is selected so I can attend the festival in person. Thank you to Magic if Horror and for all the love you've given to, 'Upstairs'.”

- Philip Trow, Filmmaker
