The
Magic of Horror Festival will take place on Oct 24, 2026 in Hopewell,
Virginia (near Richmond). Participating screenwriters are not required to
attend the event, but it is strongly encouraged.
We accept both short and feature-length scripts. There is no “written
by” date restriction.
Submissions receive the initial jury scorecard and judge’s notes
regardless of if the script is selected to be included in the festival or not!
Short Screenplays must be under 40 pages long.
Feature screenplays must be between 41-121 pages long.
Selected screenwriters will have the opportunity
to speak to the audience during the “Script Talk” block, and submit a
short video about their story for our online Awards Show video.
Winners will receive physical trophies. We will mail out trophies to winners who are unable to attend the event.
