We want to see your best short film or trailer! It doesn’t matter if it’s your newest project or one that you did twenty years ago. We also accept films that have already been released to the public.
The Magic of Horror Festival will take place on Oct 24, 2026 in Hopewell, Virginia (near Richmond). Participating filmmakers are not required to attend the event, but it is strongly encouraged.
Films and trailers that are accepted into the festival will automatically have their posters entered into the poster contest free of charge.
We have three different film submission categories: Regular short films, Microbudget films that were made for under $3,000 USD, and films that were made in the state of Virginia.

Selected films and trailers will be shown on-screen at the live event. Attending filmmakers will also be invited to participate in a Q&A session with the audience.
Our 2026 Awards Show Video will premiere online during (or shortly after) the live event in order to share the love with everyone who could not be there in person. The trailers for all participating films and trailer contestants are showcased in this video.
All of the winners of the jury awards receive trophies during the Awards Ceremony. Winners who are unable to attend the live event will have their trophies mailed to them free of charge. (And of course, all Winners will receive digital laurels too.)
